No. If you work through the platform, the household you clean with is your employer, not Helpling. If you work through Helpling, you do that on the basis of the Home Services Scheme. This is a government scheme that ensures that you can work with other households without being an independent contractor (ZZP’er) or needing a Chamber of Commerce (KvK) registration.
This makes things super easy for you! But there are some things that you need to take into account:
The household you work for is your employer, not the Helpling platform.
The Ruling is only valid if you work less than 4 days per week with the customer. It doesn’t matter if you work one hour per day or eight.
You are not insured for sickness (Ziektewet), unemployment (WW) or incapacity for work (WIA). You can insure yourself with the UWV for this.
You are responsible for your tax declaration. Any tax credits will be applied then.
What’s also important to know is what your rights are if you work through the Home Service Scheme. These are the following:
Naturally you have the right to minimum wage. .
You also have the right to 8% holiday pay and 4 weeks of paid vacation.
In case of sickness, you have the right of a maximum of 6 weeks paid sickness at 70% of your wage. This has to be at least minimum wage.
For both parties there is a notice period of a month. If you have been with the employer for more than 5 years, this might be longer for your employer.
The employer also has to guarantee a safe working environment for you.
Do you want to know more about the Home Service Scheme? You can check the government website here (page in Dutch). You can find more information here and an example contract that you can use with your employer. This is not a requirement, but can offer safety and clarity for both parties.
